Eight New Book Catalogues Reviewed This Month

- by Michael Stillman

This month we review eight new booksellers' catalogues recently published. There isn't much in common between them other than they all offer books. Dr. Jorn Gunther Rare Books has a catalogue of "Volksbucher," early books for the people, novels and more dating back as far as the 1470's. Jonathan A. Hill Bookseller covers a range of topics, including science, medicine, natural history, Japanese and military books, and paper making and marbling. Raptis Rare Books covers so many subjects we will just say they have a variety of exceptional material.

Old West Books targets the West, overland travel, Custer, the fur trade, the cattle industry, and the Civil War. Patrick McGahern Books features travels around Canada and the United States. Marilyn Braiterman Rare Books presents items relating to the arts and architecture. Peter Harrington offers material relating to Winston Churchill and to the Second World War. It includes a collection of almost all of Churchill's major works in exceptional condition, a "once-in-a-generation" collecting opportunity. The William Reese Company has a catalogue of Latin Americana.
