Il Ponte

| About Us | ABOUT US OUR HISTORY Founded in 1974 by Stefano Redaelli, il Ponte has its historic offices and salesroom in Via Pontaccio 12 in the splendid frame of Palazzo Crivelli at the heart of Brera. Since its first years of activity it has had important conferments such as Villa Borromeo in Senago, Castello Barattieri at San Pietro in Cerro, the legacy of Ing. Stampa to the Hospital of Sant'Anna in Como and to the Ca' Industria as well as the inheritance of Clown Grog. n the 80's and 90's the role of Il Ponte started to establish itself strongly on the market testified by a series of important sales such as: the auction of Villa I Pioppi in Sassuolo, memorable for the attendance and for the auction results and the sale at Villa Minetta in Novi Ligure. The highest recognition on an international level was obtained in 1999 with Renzo Mongiardino's auction which, thanks to architects Peregalli and Rimini's décor, enhanced Il Ponte's notoriety worldwide (articles appeared in Vogue Germany, AD France and The New York Times). In September 2000 the Istituto Sant'Agnese commisioned Il Ponte with the auction of the inheritance of the Castaldi Pasqualini family comprising not only of fine jewels and important contemporary works of art but also of a very rich wardrobe of the 70's and 80's by designer Yves Saint Laurent. Since 2001 Il Ponte has been specializing in Modern and Contemporary Art obtaining important conferments such as the entire collection of Villa Sant'Agostino di Pozza at Maranello in October of the same year. The sale in favour of Casa di Gino di Lora, in which the last of an important collection of XIX century paintings was auctioned very successfully for attendance and results, dates to 2002. The heyday of conferments was the Necchi Campiglio legacy in favour of the Fondazione per la formazione oncologica, the sale of the properties of the Soicietà Artisti e Patriottica, a historic Milanese club, and in 2008 the inheritance of Carlo Sernicoli, a well known accountant from Modena and knowing collector who donated part of his collection to the Pinacoteca di Modena while the rest of the inheritance was auctioned by Il Ponte and obtained exceptional results. In October 2009 Luisa Cederna's auction brought back to Il Ponte Renzo Mongiardino's creativity through the furnishing of Villa Lisanza which he had designed for his friend and client. In May 2010 the Vintage Fashion Department was inaugurated with the splendid auction of Evelina Levi Broglio's wardrobe. It was so successful that the press and even the television talked about it and the public still remembers the record results of the 22 Hermès Kelly handbags, the Capucci dresses and the Chanel suits. In October 2010 it was the turn of Giorgio Soavi's “Mirabili Passioni” : the auction was entirely dedicated to his marvelous collection. The auction house is in constant growth and wishes to offer its customers, more and more numerous and prepared, a knowledgeable staff along with efficient services and competence. Il Ponte holds on average one auction per month and is therefore the most active on the Italian market. It handles sales for all kinds of collectibles for private clients as well as for public entities. In 2006 Stefano Redaelli, CEO of the Company, decided to create a detached office and salesroom for “lesser auctions” in Via Pitteri, 8 . This warehouse of 2.500 m² handles more saleable items thus allowing a vaster clientele to participate in the sales. In the past few years the spaces in via Pontaccio have hosted a series of collateral events such as exhibitors during the Salone del Mobile and a display of ancient Japanese screens, with the intent of promoting not only Palazzo Crivelli but particularly Il Ponte Casa d'Aste. In 2008 from 29th August to 30th September all our spaces were transformed for an important international exhibit “The Vision and the Art of Shinjo Ito” which attracted 14.000 visitors. Il Ponte is continuously evolving and developing to adapt to the new demands of the market and of customers and to increase its professional capacities. |
